Hey, they say if you don’t vote, you get the government you deserve and if you do you never get the results you expect, because every four years we go through the same cycle of hope and disillusionment. Why is it that we all keep saying we hate our hypocritical politicians being controlled by special interests, groups and every election… we vote them in again ? A politician thinks of the next election and forget that leadership is not about the next election, its about the next generation and that why a statesman will always think of the next generation. Every Election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods.
However, in each and every election, its our rights, its our freedom, its our interest that are on the ballot. Democracy substitutes election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few. Listen, we do not have government by the majority, we have government by the majority who participate. So, somehow inside of all us is the power to change our country. I believe that voting is the first act of building a community as well as building a country. Remember, it is not about voting for the perfect candidate – there is no such thing. Presidents are humans.
Young people need to vote, we need to get out there. Every vote counts, educate yourself too. Don’t just vote, but know what you re voting for and stand by that because voting is the only way to make change in a democracy. Note, voting is the expression of our commitment to ourselves, one another, this country and this world. We re not just voting for an individual in my perception, we are voting for an agenda, we are voting for a platform and a political philosophy. By voting we add our choice to the chorus that forms opinions and the basis for actions. So, not voting is not a protest, it is a surrender !
Moreover, according to Ron Johnson, he aver that “I am going to be voting for Donald Trump. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure he wins”. And if I may ask who is the president of United States of America presently ? See, being adequately informed is a democratic duty, just as the vote is a democratic right. A misinformed electorate, voting without knowledge is not a true democracy because its not the voting that is democracy; its the counting ! Voting is the foundational act that breathes life into the principal consent of the governed, because whether or not your candidates wins the crucial importance is the integrity of our voting system. We have to engage in the process in order to change it.
